Exeter Broad Bean Meet-up

Sunday 11 October 2026, 2-4pm at Theatre Alibi, Emmanuel Rd, Exeter EX4 1EJ

This is the annual meet-up for growers participated in this unique ‘crowd growing’ experiment, The Exeter Broad Bean and is the perfect time to find out more if you wish to get involved.

The aim is to grow a mixture of broad bean varieties which will open pollinate and become more genetically diverse each year and work well in our local soils and the challenges we are facing with climate change. In about five years’ time, we hope to have developed a new broad bean - a true Exeter Broad Bean!

We welcome new growers for the project as well as last year’s participants.
Come to our Broad Bean project meet up where we will discuss what happened during last year’s growing season and prepare for the new season planting. Our mentor, market gardener Dan Fox will also be on hand to answer questions.
