Annual Seed Swap 2026

Strength in Diversity – Seed, Soil and Community
Exeter Seed Bank is delighted to announce its Annual Seed Swap 2026, Sunday 1 March, 1–4pm at Positive Light Projects, Sidwell Street, Exeter.

This year’s event focuses on strength in diversity, celebrating the richness of our seeds, soils and local communities. The Seed Swap is a much-loved annual gathering that brings together growers, gardeners and curious newcomers to share knowledge, seeds and inspiration.

What’s on the day?

  • Community Seed Swap Tables: we’ll be giving away over 5,000 free packets of seeds

  • Pop-up Soil Testing Lab with Daniel and Jonny from The Soil Smiths / Soil Ecology Lab: Bring along a small sample of your compost to be tested and discover the microbial life you’re supporting.

  • Exhibitions from Exeter Seed Bank: Including the Soil Testing Kit, more about our Broad Bean for Exeter project, and information on Exeter Seed Bank’s NEW Seedling and Plant Share Tent at Respect Festival.

  • Community café: serving tea, coffee and vegan cakes and treats made by students from the University of Exeter with Love Food CIC, St Thomas. (Funded by the University of Exeter Community Fund)

  • Gardening, soil and seed-saving books from Book Cycle Exeter

  • Honeysuckle Herbal - Remedies containing organic home-grown, locally forages or ethically sourced herbal materials blended by Exeter based Medical Herbalist, Yasmin Kerr

  • Heritage Apple Trees for sale from local grower Ruth O’Brien

  • Martyn Richardson from Agriton with Bokashi compost systems

  • Devon Dig Donate: a community project based at Heathfield Farm in Broadclyst, growing fresh produce to donate to food banks and community groups.

  • Wildflowers and native plants for sale from Lou’s Wild Garden: grown and sold seasonally at local markets in Exeter

  • Heathfield Farm: providing meaningful and purposeful day activities for people with learning disabilities and autism.

  • Face painting inspired by soil critters and creatures from Sparkly Sonia!

  • Art activity for kids

Come along, swap seeds, learn about living soils, and be part of Exeter’s growing movement.
